The **Sword of the Seventh Dawn**, sometimes called the **Blade of the Seventh Dawn**, is a radiant holy sword associated with [[organizations:grandmasterlyriasunsworn|Grandmaster Lyria Sunsworn]] of the [[organizations:knightlyordersofrath|Order of the Glittering Scales]]. It is one of the most visible relic-weapons of the [[organizations:churchofflame|Church of the Flame]], carried not as a symbol of conquest, but as a final warning to any who would threaten the [[organizations:keeperofthelight|Keeper of the Light]].

The blade is most often seen at the Keeper's side during processions, councils of high risk, coronations, sacred judgments, and travel beyond [[thewinterlands:thronstadt|Thronstadt]]. In addition to its function as an actual weapon, the weapon serves as the badge of office for the Order of the Glittering Scales.

===== Appearance =====

The Sword of the Seventh Dawn is a broad, luminous blade of gold-white radiance. Its guard is wrought in sunburst and draconic motifs, reflecting the gold-dragon identity of the [[organizations:knightlyordersofrath|Glittering Scales]]. When drawn, the weapon sheds a dawnlike glow, bright enough to catch on armor, banners, and stone as though sunrise has entered the room early.

  * Functions as a **+3 magic sword**.
  * On a hit, the sword deals an additional **2d8 radiant damage**.
  * While attuned, the wielder gains a vigilance-like benefit, gaining advantage on initiative checks or saves made resist magical sleep. 
  * When the wielder inflicts a critical hit, the target must make a **DC 18 Con saving throw** or be blinded until the end of the wielders next turn.
  * The sword may shed bright sunlight in a 60ft radius when commanded.

The sword is currently borne by [[organizations:grandmasterlyriasunsworn|Grandmaster Lyria Sunsworn]], Grandmaster of the [[organizations:knightlyordersofrath|Glittering Scales]] and de facto bodyguard of the [[organizations:keeperofthelight|Keeper of the Light]]. 

Lyria rarely draws the Sword of the Seventh Dawn without cause. When she does, most witnesses understand that negotiations have reached their final margin.

The exact origin of the Sword of the Seventh Dawn remains uncertain. Some traditions claim it was forged by relic-smiths of the Church, while others hold that it was sanctified after the [[majorevents:warofemberlight|War of Emberlight]] as a weapon of penitence and renewed vigilance. A minority of knightly lore suggests that the blade may be older still, tied to an early Keeper, a gold dragon, or a lost oath of the first Glittering Scales.

Whatever its origin, the sword's modern identity is inseparable from Grandmaster Sunsworn and her service to the Keeper.
