Cera Veilweaver is an aranea elder, broodmother, and Dragonmarked companion allied with the Aegis Order. She leads the Aranea Silkworks Network at Aegis Fortress, where her brood provides the Order with valuable textiles, scouts, and intelligence.
Rescue at Wellspring
Cera was discovered within the abandoned Underdark stronghold investigated during the Wellspring disappearances. The founding members of the Aegis Order freed her while destroying the guardians of a Far Realm portal hidden beneath the ruins.
After the portal was sealed, Cera was among those touched by the holy energy released during its purification. During the ceremony that followed, she received a mysterious Dragonmark alongside the founding Aegis Knights, Sir Khorzak, and Flapjack.
Cera subsequently remained with the Order and helped transform the reclaimed ruins into Aegis Fortress.
The Aranea Silkworks
Cera oversees the Aranea Silkworks Network, which serves both as a commercial workshop and an intelligence-gathering organization.
Its visible operations produce:

Behind the workshops lies a network of spiders, aranea, scouts, watchers, and informants extending through the surrounding Underdark. These agents monitor hidden passages, maintain secret routes, and frequently warn the Fortress of approaching dangers before conventional patrols become aware of them.
Information provided by the network is not always expressed in humanoid terms. Reports may concern disturbed webs, unfamiliar vibrations, displaced prey, unusual scents, or creatures that local spiders refuse to approach.
Dragonmarked Companion
Cera frequently accompanies Aegis expeditions requiring stealth, sorcery, or extensive knowledge of the Underdark. She is particularly valuable when a mission involves vertical terrain, hidden passages, hostile caverns, or the negotiation of aranea territories.
Her Dragonmark allows her to endure certain corrupted thresholds and supernatural hazards that might overwhelm an ordinary companion. The complete nature of the mark remains uncertain, although it appears connected to the purification of Far Realm corruption and the ancient wards monitored by the Aegis Order.
Personality
Cera is patient, observant, and fiercely protective of her brood. She prefers to study a situation before acting and tends to think of alliances as webs of mutual obligation rather than simple chains of command.
Although grateful to the Order for her freedom, Cera does not consider herself a servant. She regards the relationship between her brood and the Aegis Knights as a lasting alliance: the Order provided sanctuary and protection, while the aranea provide their craft, knowledge, and many watchful eyes.
