Briny Becky is the nickname of a former Freeport naval officer turned undead revenant captain. In life, she was entitled, cocky, overconfident, and brash, but also undeniably talented. She graduated first in her class at the Freeport Naval Academy and dreamed of captaining her own ship across the Corsair Seas, winning glory under her own name.

In death, she has become a dark mirror of that youthful ambition: a feared undead captain prowling the Corsair Seas in command of Grievance, a monstrous submersible kraken-vessel.

Becky’s early career seemed destined for greatness. After finishing first in her class, she joined the Freeport Adventurers Guild, hoping to build the reputation needed to earn command of her own vessel. Instead, her fortunes collapsed almost immediately.

Her family was exposed for broad criminal actions against the Merchant Class, poisoning her name and limiting her opportunities within the Guild. During this period, she clashed bitterly with a younger Bruce the Black and Thyrdk Greyrum over an adventuring contract. The argument escalated into violence, ending with Becky arrested and cast out of the Guild.

After months of disgrace, she managed to secure a position as a naval officer aboard a seven-ship trade mission from Freeport into the Corsair Seas. That fleet was destroyed by a Dragon Turtle controlled by the Triad. During the disaster, Becky escorted the merchant captain off her ship and onto the Emerald Wake, only to be beaten unconscious by Thyrdk Greyrum and fed to the Dragon Turtle by Bruce the Black.

In her final moments, Becky cursed the Triad, cursed Thyrdk Greyrum, and cursed the fate that had seemed to ruin every chance she had ever earned. That dying hatred drew the attention of Icengrim, who restored her as an undead revenant fueled by grievance, pride, and revenge.

Her resurrection did not heal her. It perfected her worst qualities.

At first, Becky served the Triad, assisting dwarven naval sellswords operating out of Mar'ganus. There she encountered the vessel that would define her unlife: a massive submersible craft shaped and armed like a mechanical kraken.

The ship is now known as Grievance, a name Becky chose with grim satisfaction. To her, it is not merely a vessel, but the physical form of every insult, betrayal, and denied opportunity that shaped her life and death.

Rather than remain a servant, Becky abandoned the dwarven mercenaries to die and used her undead followers to seize control of the ship. From that moment forward, she considered herself the most powerful and complete version of herself she had ever been.

Briny Becky now raids ships and settlements throughout the Corsair Seas, striking targets of any flag or faction. She remains thankful to Icengrim for her second life, but she loathes the Triad for the death of her mortal form.

Her relationship with Bruce the Black is strange and dangerous. Though he helped cause her death, Becky later provided him with intelligence that allowed him to kill a powerful Champion of Feng and destroy an underwater Triad stronghold. She took great joy in seeing the Triad pay that price. Both are now powerful pirates on the open seas.

Now she lives out a twisted version of her childhood dream: captain of her own ship, feared across the Corsair Seas, answerable to no mortal authority, with Grievance carrying her wrath beneath the waves.

Briny Becky is arrogant, brash, theatrical, and cruelly self-assured. She sees herself as wronged by nearly everyone who ever stood in her path, and undeath has transformed that resentment into purpose. She is not a mindless servant of evil, but a revenant with a captain’s pride and a personal mythology of betrayal.

She wants glory, command, and revenge — and she has finally found the power to take them.

Briny Becky can appear as:

• A recurring undead pirate captain striking Corsair Sea shipping.
• A dangerous rival or temporary ally against the Triad.
• A personal antagonist for Bruce the Black or Thyrdk Greyrum.
• The commander of a terrifying underwater assault from Grievance.
• A tragic villain who believes undeath finally gave her the destiny life denied her.

Briny Becky is not loyal to the Triad, despite her early service to them after death. Her true loyalty is to herself, Grievance, and the bitter power granted to her by Icengrim. She may cooperate with heroes, pirates, or monsters if doing so harms the Triad or advances her own legend, but she should never feel safe, redeemed, or predictable.
