Sir Khorzak is a Knight-Errant of the Order of the Flashing Blade, a Dragonmarked companion, and one of the most trusted field commanders serving the Aegis Order. He commands the Knights-Errant stationed at Aegis Fortress and frequently accompanies the Order on missions requiring experienced martial leadership. He often rides into battle on his trusty Armored Ant, Gus.

Sir Khorzak originally served with the Order of the Flashing Blade, whose knights protect the settlements, roads, and frontier communities of the Northern Underdark.

During one such deployment, Khorzak refused to abandon a threatened town despite orders to withdraw. His decision saved lives but brought him into conflict with his superiors. The resulting reassignment placed him alongside the newly restored Aegis Order, where his stubborn sense of duty quickly proved an asset.

Khorzak continues to identify strongly with the Flashing Blade. He regards the protection of ordinary settlements as the highest purpose of knighthood and believes that orders lose their legitimacy when they require a knight to abandon innocent people without exhausting every reasonable alternative.

Sir Khorzak encountered the founding Aegis Knights during their investigation of the disappearances around Wellspring. He aided the party as they explored the abandoned stronghold that would later become Aegis Fortress and confronted the Far Realm portal hidden beneath it.

Following the portal's sealing and purification, Khorzak was touched by the holy energy released from the site. During the ceremony conducted afterward, he received a mysterious Dragonmark alongside the founding knights, Cera Veilweaver, and Flapjack.

The complete nature of the mark remains uncertain. Like other Dragonmarked companions, Khorzak appears capable of enduring certain corrupted thresholds, supernatural trials, and ancient warded places that pose a particular danger to the unmarked.

Khorzak serves the Aegis Order as a front-line warrior, field commander, and moral anchor. He is most often called upon when a mission requires disciplined troops, the defense of civilians, or someone willing to hold a dangerous position while others escape.

He later accompanied the Aegis Knights, Boudica, and Flapjack through the Daemon Wastes on the expedition to Cael-Seryn. There he helped the party survive the wastes and reach the celestial dragon Seraphel Aundren.

Sir Khorzak commands the Knights-Errant Barracks at Aegis Fortress. Approximately eighty veteran knights have been seconded to the restored Order, providing it with a dependable force capable of defending the fortress, reinforcing distant allies, and undertaking missions that do not require the personal attention of the founding Aegis Knights.

Under Khorzak's leadership, the Knights-Errant are expected to act with initiative rather than await perfect instructions. Their responsibilities include:

* Defending Aegis Fortress and its surrounding communities * Escorting travelers, supplies, and important personnel * Reinforcing threatened settlements * Conducting patrols and independent field missions * Evacuating civilians from supernatural threats * Supporting major Aegis expeditions

Khorzak expects strict discipline from his knights, but he teaches that discipline exists to protect people—not to provide an excuse for abandoning them.

Sir Khorzak is steadfast, courageous, and deeply protective of those placed in his care. He respects legitimate authority but does not confuse obedience with virtue. If forced to choose between following an order and protecting innocent lives, few who know him doubt which path he will take.

Although sometimes regarded as stubborn, Khorzak is neither reckless nor eager for martyrdom. He favors practical defenses, orderly evacuations, and decisive action. Once he has accepted responsibility for a person or settlement, however, convincing him to leave them behind is nearly impossible.
