Boondoggle!

The Grudgehammer

The Grudgehammer is a massive dwarven sea-vessel operating along the cold northern waters between Kaskala and the dwarven naval citadel of Mar'ganus. Built for endurance rather than elegance, the ship combines heavy dwarven engineering, reinforced hullwork, steam-powered amenities, and the stubborn reliability expected of vessels trusted to brave icy seas, storm fronts, and long trade passages.

The vessel served as a key leg of the Northwinds Trade Alliance journey southward, carrying the expedition, wagons, crew, and cargo across the sea before continuing overland through the Shattered Woods and toward the Golden Road. During the voyage, the ship provided a rare period of relative calm for the caravan, allowing the crew and passengers to rest, socialize, and form stronger bonds before the harsher road ahead.

Notable Features

  • Reinforced Dwarven Construction: Built to withstand northern seas, heavy cargo, and hostile weather.
  • Steam-Powered Baths: Warm baths and steam houses offer comfort even during the cold voyage.
  • Twin Forges: Functional shipboard forges allow metalwork and practical repairs during travel.
  • Observation Crow’s Nest: Used to monitor weather, sea conditions, and distant hazards.
  • Trader Stalls: Temporary deck markets offer snacks, curios, and practical goods during calmer days.
  • The Lord’s Deck Library: A refined library space used by scholars, mages, and officers for research and quiet discussion.

The Silver Hook

One of the ship’s most memorable establishments is The Silver Hook, an upper-deck dwarven seafood eatery set into a heated alcove. Known for polished brass lanterns, carved driftwood tables, and crystal-glass sea views, the restaurant serves refined northern fare such as salted krill bisque, frost cod, iceclaw crab tails, glacier pearl oysters, and Mar’Ganus Gold Reserve Mead.

Voyage to Mar’Ganis

Journeys aboard the Grudgehammer to Mar'ganus takes roughly two weeks. During that time, passengers can safely weather storms, enjoy games and entertainment, take advantage of warm food at all price points. Items both legal and illegal can often be found if one knows where to look.
