Description

Solstice, they call it — a name whispered through chattering teeth and stiffened lips, for it is a town carved not so much from timber and ice as it is from resolve and righteousness. Clinging like frost to the ragged coast of a forgotten sea, Solstice rises in sober defiance of the elements. The wind howls scripture through the narrow lanes, rattling shutters upon squat wooden houses whose chimneys belch forth the breath of stern men and sterner women.

Founded by exiles and zealots seeking the silence of snow to better hear the voice of their distant god, the people of Solstice are clad in wool, duty, and the chill of unwavering faith. Their garments are plain, their expressions graver still. Here, fish are not merely caught but delivered, hauled in solemn procession from the frozen bay to smokehouse and hearth. Each salted herring bears the weight of prayer.

At the edge of the town, rising like a prophet on a crag, stands the Last Light — a structure of stone and spell, lit not by oil or coal, but by a divine flame said to burn away sin itself. It casts a pale glow upon the waters, and when it dims — as it sometimes does — the elders gather in tight conclave, their verdicts falling with the finality of a noonday bell.
